  Who Is Magistrate Joy Kennedy?  

Magistrate Joy Kennedy has been a loyal servant of this community for more than twenty years. Born and raised in the greater Cleveland area, she is a proud graduate of Shaw High School, in East Cleveland, Ohio. 

Magistrate Kennedy is honored to stand before you as a wife, a mother, a dedicated member of your community, and your candidate for Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.  She wants to bring a fresh perspective, unwavering dedication, and a compassionate heart to the bench.

A proud graduate of Hampton University, where Magistrate Kennedy learned the value of hard work, perseverance, and the importance of community service.  She earned a Master of Social Work degree and has over 25 years of experience in providing therapeutic services to families and children.  She is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, conflict resolution and mediation services.

Magistrate Kennedy has served as a criminal defense attorney with the Cuyahoga County Public Defender for over 17 years, where she represented individuals on all levels of criminal cases from your lower lever misdemeanor to your death penalty cases.
