Magistrate Joy Kennedy has proudly dedicated over twenty years to serving the greater Cleveland community, where she was born and raised. As a proud Shaw High School alumna from East Cleveland, she’s deeply rooted in the values and spirit of our region.
Standing before you as a devoted wife, mother, and committed community member, Magistrate Kennedy is eager to bring her unique blend of experience, passion, and compassion to the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court. She’s running for judge with a vision to infuse the bench with fresh perspectives and an unwavering dedication to justice.
A proud graduate of Hampton University, Magistrate Kennedy embraced the principles of hard work, perseverance, and community service. With a Master of Social Work degree in hand, she has dedicated over 25 years to providing transformative therapeutic services to families and children, mastering cognitive behavioral therapy, conflict resolution, and mediation.
For the past 17 years, Magistrate Kennedy has championed the rights of the accused as a criminal defense attorney with the Cuyahoga County Public Defender’s Office. Her extensive experience spans all levels of criminal cases, from misdemeanors to the most serious charges, including death penalty cases.
With a career marked by steadfast commitment and a heartfelt dedication to justice, Magistrate Kennedy is ready to bring her exceptional skills and compassionate approach to the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.
